Location and function
The Silviculture foundation and Forest resources is attached to the Silviculture Research Institute. The department’s key functions are in scientific research and technology transfer with a primary focus on silvicultural measures for recovery, development, use and management of natural forests and plantations.
Duties
- Basic and theoretical research on natural forests and planted forests in Vietnam.
- Develop, maintain and monitor a system of permanent forest plants for fundamental research.
- To study the influence of people, animals and plants, climate, hydrology and climate change on the forests, specifically impacts on forest products and maintenance of ecological function.
- Research technical solutions and policies to address the forest management issues.
- Research to produce codes, standards, and guidelines for development, sustainable use and management of natural forests, for multiple uses.
- Training, knowledge transfer, evaluation, design, development and supervision of silvicultural works in forest management.
- Management of the forestry Experimental Station in Quang Binh, established in the period 2013-2014.
